Easter 2014

This year was of course, just another opportunity for a first for our little family. It was our first Easter. Sadly we weren't all actually TOGETHER on easter but we made the most of it anyways. We had all six the day before Easter so we ended up coloring eggs and making the most of it that day. It was good times. Of course I didn't boil nearly enough eggs so the kids only got a few each but with the constant barrage of competitiveness it was of course a race to make the 'coolest' looking egg. I won. I mean. I may (or may not) have stolen the idea Jared looked up online about wrapping rubber bands around the egg to make a design but hey...he should have been faster. Competition is competition! No time for being slow.

The night before Easter we had some late night grocery shopping to do so the mister and I headed out to the one place where there is always a fun night crowd....Wal-Mart. We got out grocery shopping almost all done with a few choice words for them not carrying Avocados and for the man losing me while we were looking for skewers. Small details. Small details.

Once we got home we worked hand in hand with the Easter Bunny in hiding the kids Easter baskets. Normally the Easter Bunny sets them right out in plain sight but this year the bunny decided to do a little scavenger hunt. It was pretty cute and even though it was easier than I am sure it will be in years to come, the kids still had a good time following their clues. Even Carina. Yes Gasp. She had a smile for us during and thats pretty hard to come by.

That morning they woke up relatively early but nothing crazy and then all the prep aka Mimosa drinking and work began. The mister and I make a pretty good team so nearly everything was knocked out super early and it made me smile. We had a non traditional Easter lunch as we made Skewers and guac and pasta salad but honestly it worked out perfectly. They turned out great and everyone had a little bit of yummy goodness in their bellies. Easy clean up to so thats ALWAYS a plus!

We did get some early visitors as Nana and Tia Maritza came by, enjoyed some donuts, shared some stories about the Folk Dancing that my dad does. Apparently all Mexican children at one time in their lives were little folklorico dancers...except me...and my brothers...because apparently we are not that mexican. Whoops! We did take some time to get some quick pics of them though...because ya know...Maritza and Jared are not BFF's so she needed a good pic for the frame next to her bed. Kidding. Kinda. Maybe. Haha.

Of course after the first guests left it left room and time for the next guests to show up. Angela and Corbin came over just in time to start some Easter egg hunting. Yahoo! We had to tuck the kids away in a back room and we let my brothers, Jared and Brenna hide the Easter eggs. Of course there was a tough finders challenge because the boys were not going to just leave them all out in the open since there was some moola in some of them there eggs! So after we found all 56 eggs, we let the kids count their money, I made some deviled eggs (that were devoured quickly) and we grubbed down on lunch. We had a great time and although it was a smaller turnout than normal we did have a great time and I am very lucky to have the family I have.

Rian could not help but jump into the one pic I was trying to take with just Jared and I! Silly kid!

This man makes me so very happy. I am a lucky girl!

Probably one of my fave pics of me and my momma!

All in all, although this Easter was smaller than normal, we still had a great time and it was another mark in our 'memories' that we got to make together. I honestly am a lucky lady and I am so very grateful for my man, my kids and my family.

Oh but don't let me forget that once everyone got a few drinks into them I was also able to try and snag some grown up group (drunk) pics! Woohoo!!!

Happy Late Easter Everyone!
