Snobby McSnobbersons

Napa Valley. We have a love hate relationship.

I love it because I am older now, I love raising my kids here and its beautiful. I mean seriously. The weather is perfect. The scenery is perfect and its a cute little cozy town.

I hate it because I grew up here, everything closes at 9pm (if not earlier) and its such a cute perfect cozy town that EVERYONE knows your business...I mean like...if you poop. They know. The local sanitation guy probably sends out a mass text to all your closest friends that you had ribs for dinner and didn't invite everyone.

Now, all that being said. I have started to love going to new places, trying new things, enjoying new experiences and a couple weekends ago this was no exception. One of Jared's friends came down last weekend whom I have never met and she brought along a friend of her own and we had two plans..

1. Ride a quad

2. Go wine tasting.

I LOVE quads. Wine...not so much. Well, the quad ended up being busticated, now, no one said it out loud but it was running fine while Ashley drove it and then BOOM, Jared gets on and the shifter is tore back. I mean. I'm just sayin' that he may or may not have been the culprit that broke it. So there went our first plans but don't worry we still had fun, grilling carne asada, having some drinks, catching up, getting to know each other, playing Wii  and it just so happens it was the weekend before Ashley's birthday so we OF COURSE had to buy cupcakes and sing Happy Birthday. I do love birthdays!!!

The next day we (me and Jared) weren't really sure that we were feelin' up to wine tasting but alas, he got on his fancy clothes aka shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt, and I got a little cute and off we went to a few of the places I had gone to before. Mostly cause I knew I liked a little of each thing they had. Haha. I know. Selfish! First stop was amazing. We had a blast from the second we walked in the door. Now, I have only been wine tasting once and that time was ALSO a blast but this was on a different quite immature level and I LOVED it. We of course, drank the wine, and did actually find one we loved (bought a bottle to take home) but we mostly had fun. Lots of fun. I have to say, I now really enjoy wine tasting although I cannot promise that if we ever go with my parents that we will be quite of to their level. The plus side is that if you ever go to Peju for the first time you should look up Yelp and get hooked up with the 2 for 1 tasting. I had NO idea they did that but the snooty girls that were tasting next to us all used theirs so I figured why not pull up my sweet app and use it to! Boom! Discount!

Before we made any other stops we thought it good to get some food in our belly and although it's nothing fancy, we did end up getting a couple of pitchers of margaritas, had them sing Ashley happy birthday and even introduced ourselves to a local mascot walking down the street. Apparently we have no shame and the people around us were probably jealous of all the fun we were having. Probably. Maybe not. Maybe they hated that we were so loud and obnoxious. The best thing about wine tasting is that after a couple glasses you don't even care!

We didn't only do wine, we also enjoyed some champagne but honestly, it wasn't as great as it normally is on Sundays mixed with Orange Juice. Haha. Yes I do often try to keep it this classy. We had fun either way and we tried every single taster group they had. Ya know, while I was there the biggest thing to remember is that this particular place, Mumm, really appreciates our troops. Jared didn't have his license with him, so he only had his military ID. When he showed it to her she said we got two free tastings and 30% off the other ones we got (we had 4 total). I am not (despite my previous Yelp discounts) normally one that goes looking for discounts and I think maybe once have I see Jared use his military status for a discount (only because it was prompted) and I just thought that was extra generous of them to really show their appreciation with such a significant discount. I can't imagine they have every single military person realize they have the discount so it was just nice to be unexpecting...and have them also thank him for his service. I gotta say...my Air Force man makes me very proud!

So like I said, not a usual 'extreme couponer' but this tasting trip sure did work out to our unexpected benefit! I had a great weekend and am glad I got to know another person who is a piece of Jareds life. The more I learn the more I like him and the more I like him the more fun we have....as if we didn't have enough fun before! Haha.
