New Beginnings...
Okay, so it has been quite a while since I came on here and already life has changed soo much. My guy is no longer getting deployed to Turkey and initially when I found this out, I stopped blogging all together because well, I was trying to use it as a space for me to document our ups and downs and remember all we had even while he was away. NOW I find myself with a whole new reason to want to be blogging and it's because we have this awesome family that has come together and we are always doing so much cool stuff! Granted there are tough days and there are good days but all the days are worth jotting down for us to look back on.
The image above explains us perfectly. The biggest struggle these days comes from all parts, the kids going through the motions of adding new people to their family, the grown ups adjusting to parenting new kids and even my guy and I working through all the things that come along with not only all the kids that are going through but also what it is to be in a new relationship that is so very different and sometimes much more complex than what you're used to. With the kids the days of "you aren't my such and such" or "you can't tell me what to do" or "you don't spend enough time with JUST us" have begun and oddly, I welcome it. I think all those things are going to be what make us the family that we are striving to be. Its also what has helped us to laugh at life and take it one day at a time because well, what else can you do when there is 8 of you!
Funny story. Just because. Not related to anything I was talking about before. Why? Because I can.
We went to Six flags just this weekend and of course to do this we had to take two cars, get 8 season passes and remind 6 kids that we didn't need to rush to ride all the rides or try ALL the food because we would be back and that not everyone would be pleased every trip. We decided we weren't going to eat at the park and bam...we were on our way (after a little bit of a delay due to me...no big surprise there). When we got there we had to go directly to the season pass office to get our pics taken and cards issued and the two things that I found funny were...
1. When we stood there in line, there was another family with 3 kids and my guy and I giggled to each other and secretly puffed out our chests while whispering to eachother "they got nothin' on us and our 6".
2. When we finally got called up the gal asked for our papers which I handed to her in age order, then she asked us to get in line youngest to oldest (which they kids are SOO used to) and then as she took the final pic she says "You guys run like a well oiled machine".
Both of those things are us to a T! We do beam with pride at our "brady bunch" and we do love that our kids (all 6) work together like a team in all instances...even the ones where one is yelling "did not" and 5 others are yelling "we saw it...yes you did!". We may look like a mini circus when we go out in public but at least we are all respectful, patient and just the right amount of crazy when it calls for it!
So although this blog was started with one intention I think its time to begin this new chapter and remember all our good days, bad days and the in-between days because these are the moments that are worth our smiles, laughs and eye rolling!
Cheers to new beginnings!
